The 7 Day Detox Diet – IX. An Extended Diet Plan

An Extended Diet Plan

After the seven day detox diet, you can expect to feel healthier, more energized, and you would have lost those few extra pounds! It’s a great feeling and I’m sure you want to keep it, to sustain it, and to prolong it as much as possible. But our seven day diet is designed exactly for just that – seven days – and it’s not healthy to maintain an all-liquid, partial liquid, or unbalanced diet every day. What you can do is modify the seven day detox diet into something more feasible for long term eating.

A break from red meat and vinegar and dairy has great effects short term but that doesn’t make these food dietary villains, not in any way, shape, or form. In fact, after the detox diet ends, we encourage you to slowly reintroduce them into your diet.

That means you should definitely have that raspberry vinaigrette for your salad or cheese with your omelette. Mayonnaise? Yes, in small amounts which means you can have that mayo honey

mustard dip you’ve been craving. Milk? Yes! And lots of it. But what you should avoid doing is eating food – any food – that have been overly processed and preserved.’

As long as you’re preparing your own meals mostly from basic ingredients, then you’re doing a good job of keeping that healthy run that you’ve been having for the past seven days. That means no fast food, no bag of chips, no microwaveable dinners, and no bottled fruit juices or salad dressings. You don’t know the amount of preservatives and artificial flavors that go into a bottled salad dressing. They’re best avoided and they’re very easy to prepare. In fact, I’m willing to bet that the dressings – and other meals – that you prepare will taste much better simply because you’re using fresh ingredients and you have room to experiment.

Can you eat white rice and white pasta? Yes, but it’s best to limit yourself to half a cup for rice. And white-flour pasta? It’s actually a good kind of carb and you’ll do great to choose pasta for your meals, especially with sauces you’ve prepared yourself. You start getting into trouble when you buy those ready-made pasta sauces and foil-wrapped easy bake garlic breads.

And finally, the most important part of extending that all-good feeling of the seven day detox diet – ditch the sodas, the bottled fruit juices, the powdered juice mixes and iced teas. They bring you nothing good and are always over-sweetened.

With the seven day detox diet, you’re already on the right track. If you keep at it, you’ll be feeling much healthier, more energized, and – thanks to the endorphins released by great food and a complete set of vitamins, minerals, and fiber – you’ll be much happier for it. Good luck!

The 7 Day Detox Diet – Fettuccine in Herbed Garlic Olive Oil with Seared Scallops

Fettuccine in Herbed Garlic Olive Oil with Seared Scallops

Ingredients:
To prepare:

First, you need to get started on boiling the pasta. In a pot large enough to cover the pasta, bring salted water to a boil. Remember, there should be ten parts water to one part pasta. Let the pasta cook until it is al dente while you prepare the rest of the ingredients.

While the pasta is cooking, you can sear the scallops. In a pan, drizzle some or vegetable oil and bring the heat up to full. Place the scallops down on one side until it is dark brown. Turn it over to sear the other side. When both sides have been seared, set aside.

Chop the parsley, basil, and garlic.

Don’t forget about the pasta. When it’s done, remove from the water but save some of the pasta water for later.

In a pan on medium heat, drizzle some of the olive oil and sauté the garlic. Add the basil and parsley and sauté. Then add the pasta and toss until it is completely covered with the olive oil and herbs. Toss in a tablespoon or two of the pasta water and continue tossing. Add the scallops before you season the mixture to taste with salt and pepper.

The 7 Day Detox Diet – Herbed Potato Salad with Warm Apple Slices

Dinner Recipes

Herbed Potato Salad with Warm Apple Slices

Ingredients:
To prepare:

Peel and chop the potatoes and boil in water until they are tender but still have bite. Set the boiled potatoes aside to cool.

Wash and chop the parsley and chives and combine with the yogurt. Season the yogurt sauce with salt and pepper.

After coring and slicing the apples, place them on a grill or in an oven toaster. The apple slices will look great with grill marks but they’re not necessary for making the grilled fruit taste great.

In a bowl, toss the potatoes in the yogurt sauce. Taste the potatoes with dressing and season as needed.

Serve the herbed potato salad with the warm apple slices and enjoy!

The 7 Day Detox Diet – Prawn and Scallop Salad

Prawn and Scallop Salad

Ingredients:
To prepare:

Shell the prawns, including the head, and devein them. In a medium pan on medium heat, place a little vegetable oil to pan fry the prawns and scallops. Season with a little salt and pepper. Set aside while you prepare the salad.

Wash your salad greens and spin them dry or set them on a paper towel lined plate. In a small bowl, combine the raspberry puree and olive oil and whisk until you create a cold emulsion. Season the dressing with salt and pepper.

Tear the lettuce into bite-sized pieces and toss in the dressing before placing on the plate. Toss the prawns and scallops in the dressing too before placing on top of the lettuce along with the fresh raspberries for a prawn and scallop raspberry salad.

Grilled Fish Fillet with Yogurt Potato Salad

To prepare:

Wash the potato thoroughly and cut into chunks. In a saucepan, boil in salted water until it is tender but not mushy. You can use a fork to test for the right doneness. When the potatoes are done cooking, set them aside and let them cool.

In a small bowl, combine the lemon juice and olive oil to use as a basting liquid for the fish. Season the fish fillet with salt and pepper before brushing it with the basting liquid and placing it on the grill. Continue to baste occasionally to prevent dryness. Remember; fish and seafood cook fast so grilling a fish fillet shouldn’t take too long.

Shock the green peas in the same salted boiling water as the potatoes to give them flavor and to warm them up.

In another bowl, combine the yogurt, mustard, honey, and chopped chives and season with a little salt and pepper. Toss the potatoes and the green peas in the mixture until they are thoroughly coated. Serve the fish fillet with the potato salad and green peas for a filling lunch.

The 7 Day Detox Diet – Lettuce Breakfast Burrito

Lettuce Breakfast Burrito

Ingredients:
To prepare:

This recipe takes a little bit of preparation because the chicken breast needs to be marinated the night before or at least two hours before you grill or pan-fry it. Take the chicken breast and butterfly it by slicing down the middle without actually cutting it in half. Spread it out and cover it with Saran wrap. With a kitchen mallet (or something heavy and handy), pound the chicken lightly until it spreads out thinly without breaking.

In a Ziploc bag or small bowl, combine the light soy, honey, crushed black pepper, and chopped rosemary. Add the chicken and place inside the chiller. Let the chicken marinade overnight or at least two hours. After marinating, pan fry or grill the chicken using the marinade as a basting liquid.

To put the breakfast burrito together, spread a large piece of lettuce out. Slice up the chicken into thin strips and place inside the lettuce. Toss in the corn and peanuts and roll up the lettuce to make a burrito style breakfast.

Breakfast Recipes

Oatmeal with Apple Slices and Nutmeg

 Ingredients:
To prepare:

In a small pot or saucepan combine oatmeal and water and place on low heat. Let the oatmeal cook and absorb the liquid until it is just the right tenderness. Take out the oatmeal and add the yogurt to give it some richness. At this point, you can season with either salt or honey or a little bit of both.

If you are using a nutmeg nut, you can grate some over the oatmeal with a microplane. For the powder, sprinkle a pinch or two for added flavor.

Wash and core the apple and slice. Serve with the oatmeal. Pair the oatmeal with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice and you’ll have a great breakfast.

The 7 Day Detox Diet – Tomato Broccoli Juice

Tomato Broccoli Juice

Wash the tomatoes, core them, and slice them but there’s no need to separate the seeds. Chop the broccoli into small pieces, small enough to fit through a juicer. Combine the parsley leaves with the tomatoes and juice. Juice the broccoli and combine with the tomatoes.

For a little added flavor, you can add lemon or ginger. Enjoy!

Ginger Apple Juice with Cinnamon

Core the apples and chop or slice into pieces that will fit through a juicer. Make sure to core the apples and remove all of the seeds; it contains unhealthy toxins that are bad for you. Run the apples through the juicer and set aside.

Peel the ginger and slice into pieces that will fit through a juicer. Run the ginger through the juicer and set aside.

In a small saucepan, combine the apple juice and ginger juice and place on low heat. Add a pinch of cinnamon and let it simmer. Pour into a mug, add the cinnamon stick, and enjoy.

The 7 Day Detox Diet – Celery and Cantaloupe Juice with Parsley

Celery and Cantaloupe Juice with Parsley

To prepare:

Make sure that all the ingredients are washed and cleaned. Run all of the ingredients through a juicer. Don’t like parsley? You can substitute with basil or mint or other soft herbs. This juice is best served chilled.

For a twist, you can create a smoothie instead and enjoy the high dietary fiber content of both celery and cantaloupes. Add half a cup of plain yogurt for added richness.

Minty Apple and Orange Juice

Ingredients:

To prepare:

Wash the apple, core, and chop into pieces that will fit through a juicer. Be careful to remove all parts of the core, especially the seeds, because they contain traces of toxins which can be bad for you. Chop up or tear up the mint and toss with the chunks of apple. Run the mint and apple chunks together through the juicer.

Wash the oranges. Using a citrus squeezer, squeeze the juices out of the oranges and strain the seeds out.

Combine the mint apple juice and orange juice in a glass. Add a couple of ice cubes and enjoy!
